AFTER a heartbreaking loss to Kaya Makati FC last October 20 at the University of Makati football pitch, Global Cebu FC is expected to vent its ire on cellar dweller Ilocos United FC this Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) field.

Global Cebu FC suffered its sixth loss with a 2-0 bashing from Kaya Makati FC and dropped to fourth overall with 37 points on 10 wins, six defeats and seven draws.

The Ilocos United FC on the other hand, only has seven points on a lone victory, 19 defeats and four draws.

Ilocos United FC’s last match against leader FC Meralco Manila last October 20, was shrouded in controversy after it was forfeited by the PFL in favor of FC Meralco Manila.

“Ilocos United FC is sanctioned with a loss of points (forfeit) as a result of failure to remedy, despite opportunity given, its non-compliance of the Franchise Agreement,” the PFL said in a statement.

On the other hand, seven of Global Cebu’s players headed by Misagh Bahadoran will play for the Philippine Azkals in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup 2019 UAE Qualifiers against Nepal on November 13 in Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal. The rest of Global Cebu FC’s players that will vie for the Philippine Azkals are Dominic Del Rosario, Patrick Deyto, Hikaru Menigeshi, Paul Maulders, Paolo Salenga and Dennis Villanueva.

FC Meralco Manila is currently on top of the PFL rankings with 48 points (14-3-6 win-loss-draw) followed by Kaya Makati FC with 44 points (13-5-7) and Ceres Negros FC with 42 points (13-4-3).
