Magis Eagles off to hot start in Pilipinas Cup football tourney

THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles opened their campaign in the Pilipinas Cup International Invitational Youth Football Championship in Clark Freeport, Pampanga with guns blazing after scoring a, 5-0 rout of GOM Center for Excellence B yesterday.

Christopher Ozawa put on a sterling performance to lead the Magis Eagles’ scorching win in Group A when he scored a hat trick. Ozawa found the back of the net in the ninth, 14th and 40th minute.

John Pomeroy Veloso and Jacob Alexander Braun each scored a goal at the sixth and 30th minute, respectively.

Most of the players fielded by the Magis Eagles in the Pilipinas Cup are part of the 2016 secondary division football champions of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi).

They finished as runners-up in this year’s Cesafi secondary division football tournament behind Don Bosco Technical College.

Today, the Magis Eagles play the Stallions FC at 9 a.m. and will meet Viras FC tomorrow at 3 p.m.

The team’s participation in the tournament is sponsored by Cebu Landmasters Inc., Hyundai Cebu, Guhring and minor sponsors San Miguel Mills, General Milling Corporation, King Cup, Crystal Sugar Co. Inc., Sandvik Coromant, Monark Heavy Equipment Corporation.
