BOLJOON FAULT LINE

A clearing operation is now underway in the town of Boljoon after a landslide hit Sitio Sangi of Barangay Lower Becerril last week due to the movement of the fault line. The provincial disaster management office as well as Boljoon’s rescue team are now working on ensuring that the residents are safe.

But many netizens can’t help but be worried on the welfare of the people living on the fault line and are at risk of the effects of its movement.

Reggie Medida wrote on Facebook, “The landslides and road cracks have long been a problem in the barangay, and it has worsened over the years. Thanks to the people who pay attention to this problem. I hope this problems gets completely solved. Thumbs up to the government officials who are now taking action.”

Joe Manalo also expressed his opinion, “If this could happen to Boljoon, it’s also possible that this kind of problem can affect the bigger towns and cities, considering the high-rise buildings and huge establishment in those areas. It’s more dangerous.”

Pedro Bucani said, “The fault line movement may have been caused by extensive mining.”

Jade Llantino added, “The province of Cebu is the richest province, right? Well, the provincial government should do something to make sure that the people in Boljoon and other towns are safe.”
