THE PANTHERS and the Wolves picked up where they left off last season as both won their opening games in the Season 3 opener of the Elite Basketball Club – Talisay last Sunday at the Vista Grande gym in Talisay City.

Last season’s runners-up Wolves managed to survive the Pelicans, 76-73, behind a balanced offense.

Four players figured in double digits for the Wolves led by Mike Cueva’s 15 points. Norwen Baclay, Celso Colegado and Duane Anino backed him up with 13, 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

The Panthers, meanwhile, got off to a rolling start with a 78-69 win over the Tigers.

Sharpshooting Yasser Magdara and Stephen Sanchez led the Panthers with 12 points apiece while Neil Buot and Aljhune Areja both added 11.

The duo of Sean Povadora and Dharryl Balabas, on the other hand, combined for 54 points in the Stallions’ 96-80 beatdown of the Sharks.
