INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed open-water swimmer Ingemar Macarine will come out of a three-month break as he swims 15 kilometers in the seas of Bohol today.

The lawyer and environmentalist will swim from Pamilacan Island in the municipality of Baclayon to Alona Tropical Resort on Panglao Island to promote tourism and cleaner seas.

“This is part of my preparation for my last and final attempt to conquer the 21-mile English Channel in August 2018,” said Macarine, who failed to cross the English Channel from Dover, England to Calais, France last August due to bad weather.

This will be the 39-year old Surigao native’s 31st successful open-water swim and his seventh swim with a distance of 10 kilometers or more.
Macarine has earned various international awards for his advocacy for cleaner seas.
