Cebuanos shine in Manila bowling

MANILA based Cebuana kegler Alexis Sy finished second in the stacked Masters Open division of the 2017 Magallanes Bowling Association (MBA)-Sarimanoks Singles Open last November 12 at the Starmall in Edsa, Metro Manila.

Sy downed 2,602 pinfalls in the 12-game series to finish behind Filipino bowling legend, Rafael “Paeng” Nepomuceno who scored 2,687 pinfalls in the tournament that drew Class O professional bowlers.

Sy competed under the Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati (TBAM) Prima with only eight handicap points while her male counterparts had none.

Sy’s best performance was in game six where she knocked down 236 pins. She averaged 217 pinfalls in her campaign while Nepomuceno averaged 224.

Another Cebuano, Aui Padawan who vied under the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association (BTA) Prima banner, placed fifth with 2,538 pinfalls. He was the lone bowler in the Masters Open to score a perfect 300 which he accomp;lished in the qualifying round.

The reigning BTA Sinulog Open Masters champion, averaged 212 pinfalls. His teammate Heber Alqueza who recently placed second in the Bowling Association of Las Piñas (BALP)/ UPHS Halloween Open, settled in 20th spot with 2,228 pinfalls.
