The University of Cebu (UC) dancesporters mesmerized the packed gallery with their hot and graceful moves en route to ruling the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc., (Cesafi) dancesport competition at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu last Friday night.

The pair of Joseph Migue Cantilla and Mary Joy Dumosmog won the tertiary Latin crown with their smoldering performances in samba, chacha and jive beating the University of Southern Philippines Foundation’s (USPF) Matthew Lumapas and Killiaen Mane Ferrer.

The University of San Carlos’ (USC) Zjiane Troy Villarta and Alexa Geñete automatically bagged the gold in the standard discipline as they were the lone performers in the category.

Meanwhile, the Webmasters also made waves in the secondary division with Francis Isaia Diluvio and Yeddah Marie Castañares (standard) and Sean Alexavier Baclay and Rydel Rowella Patin (Latin) topping their respective events.

The winners will represent Cebu City and their respective schools in next year’s Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) National Finals in Bohol on April 18.

Meanwhile, the Dancesport Grassroots Challenge, spearheaded by the Cebu City Sports Commission, was also held.

In the tertiary Latin events, Barangay Inayawan’s James Walter Campaña and Odette Bermudez bagged the Latin close discipline title while Punta-Asturias’ Roberto Baflor and Dianne Grace Polleros captured the open routine gold medal.

City Central National High School’s Rizaldy Ocampo and Debbie Devibar bagged three golds as they reigned in the secondary division’s Latin close and open categories. Both also claimed gold medals in the standard closed bronze event. Punta-Asturias’ Siegfried Flories and Cecille Noel triumphed in the open routine event.

Don Vicente Rama Memorial Elementary School’s (DVRMES) brother-sister tandem of Vincent Paul and Pauline Corpus ruled the elementary division by winning two gold medals in the open routine and closed bronze events.

Meanwhile, Pardo Elementary School took home all the medals in the closed bronze event courtesy of John Prince Alonte and Alexandra Celina Mae Asis (gold), Matthew Madrid and Denise Abella (silver) and Sean Espanillo and Mishlyny Espanillo (bronze).

Punta-Asturias’ Joseph Eleasar Aguanta and Darlen Bayucot topped the open routine category.

Meanwhile, the 72 couples consisting of the top six placers for each of the 12 categories in the Dancesport Grassroots Challenge automatically become official members of the DanceSport Team Cebu City Training Pool. WITH PR
