Charo Santos-Concio and Bea Alonzo star in new horror film

ABS-CBN’s Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio and Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo will star in a new film in 2018.

Film director Mikhail Red shared the news on his Facebook account last Monday, December 10 (also his birthday) during the story conference for the film titled, “Eerie.”

“Birthday presscon/ storycon for EERIE with mam Charo and Bea,” Red said in his post.

He added that the project already won the Naff Bifan prize in Korea and was selected for the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Project Market in Singapore.

“Eerie” will be Santos-Concio’s comeback to the horror genre since the 1976 film “Itim” directed by Mike de Leon.

It will be Alonzo’s first horror film as she is more known for her romance and drama roles.

Santos-Concio shared on her Instagram: “I did ITIM in 1976, I was 20 years old then.

After almost 4 decades, I’m doing another horror film, and guess what, my director, @red_mikhail, is 26 years old, but one of the promising young directors now!”

Red is the director of award-winning film “Birdshot,” the Philippines’ foreign language film entry for Oscars 2018.

“And of course, who wouldn’t be thrilled to work with @beaalonzo, one of the most competent actresses of her generation. Hope you will be excited as I am,” Santos-Concio ended her post.

Santos-Concio is the host of ABS-CBN’s “Maalala Mo Kaya,” the longest running drama anthology in the network.

Alonzo, on her Instagram account, said the project is “another great opportunity.”

“I can’t even begin to tell you how overwhelming this is. All the good opportunities, the people I have been dreaming to work with, the concepts I have been dying to be working on.. All coming together at the same time.. I am excited for this journey, 2018 might just be my favorite year,” the actress said.
