For Aldeguer, Pagara has 50-50 chance against unbeaten Japanese

ALA Promotions International’ top honcho Michael Aldeguer believes that his ward, WBO international super lightweight champion Jason “El Niño” Pagara, has a fifty-fifty percent chance against the unbeaten Japanese contender Hiroki Okada on December 19 in Tokyo, Japan.

The 29-year-old Pagara of Maasin City will fight in hostile territory for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific super lightweight title.

Aldeguer made this prediction with Pagara’s subpar performance last September in his mind.

Pagara faced an unheralded opponent from Kenya in James Onyango, which ended up in a split draw. The fight, which was expected to be dominated by Pagara, turned into a close battle that left the latter badly bruised.

It was later discovered that Pagara did not train well for that fight.

“It will be a fifty-fifty fight for Jason (Pagara). Jason has to win for his career to move on,” said Aldeguer. “If he loses then we need to talk to him as he had issues with his focus on his training.”

Pagara holds a record of 40 wins (25 knockouts) along with two defeats and one draw.

He became the top ranked junior welterweight contender in the World Boxing Organization (WBO) a few years back, and he is now currently ranked number 8 in the welterweight division with Australian Jeff Horn as the current champion.

Okada has a record of 19 wins (11 knockouts) without a single defeat and draw.
Pagara flies to Tokyo, Japan today along with his trainers Edmund Villamor and Michael Domingo.
