Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma officiated a dawn Mass in Carbon Public Market attended by market vendors, Barangay Ermita and local officials Monday.

In his homily, Palma preached on trusting God amid calamities and trials. He cited those who suffered from the devastation caused by typhoon Urduja in eastern Visayas.

Palma said Cebu Archdiocese is calling on its faithful to give what they can for the victims of Urduja.

Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, who attended the Mass, said the City Council will first assess the damages wrought by typhoon Urduja to determine the amount of assistance to be given to affected areas.

The vice-mayor said Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for peace and order, is busy with the city’s measures in ensuring the safety of families to be hard hit by another incoming typhoon this week.
