Netizens call for environmental protection after several towns in southern Cebu experienced flooding and landslides due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm “Agaton.”

A netizen named Lovely Rodriguez said, “This is a wakeup call for us to protect our environment and start recycling. Flooding has become more frequent.”

Benedict Navarro said, “If people would not cut trees from the mountains then landslides and flooding would not happen in rural areas.”

Meanwhile, Frans Laborte blamed the cities’ poor drainage system in Cebu.

“If we have a better drainage system in the city, and Cebuanos would not throw their garbage anywhere, things like this would never happen. This calls for a change in habits!” he said.
