Unmasking Fiberhome

A TRADITIONAL DRAGON AND LION DANCE
from Cebu Eastern College opens the Masquerade Ball, ushering in more luck for the coming year.

If you’re a PLDT subscriber, chances are you’ve allowed these fine men and women into your home at some point or another.

Depending on the circumstances, you’ve also either thanked them profusely or yelled at them.

I’ve certainly been guilty of both.

Four weeks ago I had the privilege of throwing a party for thousand-strong Fiberhome employees and their top management from China.

The company handles installation for PLDT, mostly technicians that handle the groundwork for the telecoms giant, and the administration that make sure everything moves around smoothly.

They also attend to repairs, mostly facing irate customers.

It was a huge part guilt that had me pull out all the stops for them for that one night, at least.

After a stringent screening process, nine groups of performers made it into the final round to showcase their talents onstage at the SM Skyhall, spilling over to the LED dancefloor that spelled all the difference for most acts.

At the end of the evening, Gorgeous Synergy emerged as a runner up with a song and dance act that featured a traditional Chinese song from Platform Manager in Cebu Allen Liu himself, with the last performers of the night—the Goal Diggers—landing the top spot as overall champions.

As the specially-engraved souvenir tipsy glasses reminded the guests, it was also a night to celebrate “Collaborative sharing to create a better future”, the Fiberhome slogan for 2018 and beyond.
