SIX persons including the brother of a city councilor were arrested in separate operations of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) and the Cebu City police last Monday evening.

In Purok Nangka, Barangay Gun-ob in Lapu-Lapu City, police arrested drug suspects Erwin Sullano and Victor Amores, a former fireman and brother of Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Rico Amores.

Senior Insp. Genesis Aniversario of the Lapu-Lapu City police said they seized from their possession one medium pack and 24 small packs of shabu worth P63,000 and cash proceeds.

The 50-year-old Amores went absent without leave (AWOL) back in 2005 and had been on the city’s drug watchlist since.

In a phone interview, Councilor Amores said he won’t intervene in his brother’s prosecution.

“Bahala siya sa iyang kinabuhi, nagpakauwaw lang na siya sa among pamilya (Let him take care of himself, he has brought shame to our family),” the councilor said.

Police arrested four more suspects in Barangays Gun-ob and Canjulao in Lapu-Lapu City also last Sunday.

The first two drug suspects identified as Pepito Collantes and Ernesto Milano were caught with sachets of shabu and P270 in cash proceeds in their possession.

Later the Hoops Dome police arrested two 20-year-old drug suspects identified as Arthur Bog-Bog and Jomar Cabalhug who yielded packs of shabu worth P17,700 and one unlicensed revolver.

In Cebu City, police arrested drug suspects Armando Solis and college student Ma. Evelyn Balili, both residents of Barangay Duljo Fatima.

Taken from their possession were packs of shabu.
