Sea travel to Negros Oriental cancelled as Basyang maintains strength

Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRMMO) information officer Julius Regner told Cebu Daily News that all trips bound for Negros Oriental from the port of Samboan are cancelled as of this morning.

Cebu is among the provinces placed under Storm Signal No. 1 based on the latest weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Regner added that their office has instructed all disaster response teams in the province, particularly in the south, to ensure all their personnel and equipment are ready for deployment in preparation for Tropical Storm Basyang.

“Makusog man o mahinay, dili gyud dapat magkompyansya (Whether it will intensify or weaken, let’s not be complacent),” Regner said.
