The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Central Visayas (LTFRB-7) impounded a tourist van in Cebu North Bus Terminal, Mandaue City, Cebu this morning.

Franchised as a tourist vehicle, it was caught operating as a van-for-hire (V-Hire) without permit from LTFRB.

The colorum van, with plate number AEC 7922, hailed passengers bound for Daanbantayan town, Cebu.

“This is an example of a public utility vehicle which has a franchise to operate under a certain category but crosses over to another category for a fast buck” LTFRB-7 director Ahmed Cuizon stated in his Facebook post.

The van will stay impounded at the parking area of LTFRB-7. Its owner will face a penalty amounting to P200,000.
