A public hearing was held on Wednesday morning to convene various stakeholders and public officials regarding the proposed ordinance regulating the hiring of bouncers of entertainment bars in Mandaue City.

Police Superintendent Oscar Boyles of the Mandaue City Police Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) received reports concerning bouncers who had failed to pacify altercations in the night clubs and establishments.

“Kon duna’y kagubot, sakto na nga uwangon ug dad-on sila sa gawas. Pero dili biyaan kay magkagubot gihapon og usab (If there’s an altercation, it is just right that the bouncers will intervene and bring them outside the bar. But they should not leave them there as they may continue to fight), Boyles expressed during the hearing.

Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, who presided the public hearing, said that the proposed ordinance will help maintain peace and order in the city.

“Maayo sab nga wala’y supak sa atong gipropose nga pagregulate sa hiring sa mga bouncers (It is good that no one opposed to the proposed regulation of the hiring of bouncers),” Fortuna added.

Last week, two entertainment bars, Sentral Bar and Lounger and Club Hatchi, were ordered closed by Mayor Luigi Quisumbing upon recommendation of the City Legal Office.

Prior to their closure, several trouble alarms had been reported involving the said establishments.

A pending review involving MO2 Resto Bar is yet to be concluded, after it was alleged of holding a party event without the necessary permit from the city government.
