Gillamac indicted for death of judge’s husband and son

Two managers of a Cebu-based security agency are facing trial for allegedly submitting an “untruthful and inaccurate” report to exclude from their official list a security guard who was tagged in the slay of two lawyers in December 2016.
The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office found sufficient basis to indict Bella Asuncion Gillamac, the general manager of Invincible Armada Security; and Jowel Paner, operations manager, on charges of violating Republic Act 5487 or the Private Security Agency Law, particularly the provision on the professional conduct and ethics of security agencies.
In her resolution, Assistant Cebu City Prosecutor Ma. Liza Jorda said news reports disputed the respondents’ claim that Jonathan Sanchez was not an employee of the agency.
In fact, the prosecutor said, it was Paner who admitted to reporters that Sanchez was an employee of Invincible Armada Security for almost six months when the crime happened.
“A careful evaluation of the complaint, the counter-affidavit, and the reply as well as the evidence submitted reveals that the charge for violation of the professional conduct and ethics of security agencies has basis,” Jorda said.
“What clearly appears on the records was that respondents have the duty to submit a truthful and accurate report in the Monthly Disposition Report as required under RA 5487. However, they intentionally did not put the name of Security Guard Jonathan Sanchez as employee of the agency,” she added.
Jorda’s ruling was approved by Cebu City Prosecutor Liceria Lofranco-Rabillas.
The issue stemmed from the complaint filed by lawyer Sarah Eufrosina Paderanga, the wife of slain lawyer Gerik Caesare Paderanga.
Gerik Caesare and his father Goering George Paderanga, Sr., also a lawyer, died after they were allegedly shot by Sanchez outside their law office on F. Ramos Street in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Cebu City on December 22, 2016.
When interviewed by reporters shortly after he was arrested, Sanchez admitted to killing the two lawyers. He said he was angry at Gerik Caesare because he blocked the entry of the cement mixer to the construction site that he was guarding.
The lawyers’ law firm is located along the narrow road that leads to the construction site of a condominium project of Crown Regency Club Ultima being undertaken by Monocrete Construction.
Sanchez claimed there was never any heated confrontation that ensued between him and the two lawyers, but he admitted he was not happy that they would ignore him whenever he would ask them to remove their vehicles.
Gerik Caesare was the eldest son of retired Judge Sylva Aguirre-Paderanga of the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City Branch 16, while Goering George was the judge’s husband.
During the course of the investigation, Invincible Armada Security allegedly made it appear that Sanchez was not their employee in their Monthly Disposition Report (MDR) for the month of October 2016.
The MDR was subsribed and sworn to before a notary public.
In their counter-affdavit submitted to the prosecutor’s office, Gillamac and Paner denied fabricating a report to free the security agency from any liabilities in relation to the death of the two lawyers.
