Accused shot dead after resisting police arrest

Dante Betaganzo, an accused of a robbery case, was shot dead after he attempted to resist from police authorities upon service of warrant of arrest against him past 1:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon in Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Betaganzo is the subject of the arrest warrant issued by RTC Bohol Branch 1 acting presiding judge Irmazita Masamayor in June 2014.

The service of the warrant was done jointly by operatives of Regional Special Operations Group 7 (RSOG 7), Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) of Bohol Provincial Police Office, City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office and Marigondon Police Station.

Police investigation showed that the suspect tried to shoot at the approaching officers, prompting the operatives to use their firearms.

The accused sustained three gunshot wounds which caused his death.

A .45 caliber pistol was also recovered from the crime scene.
