OMEGA Boxing Gym’s Jessie Cris “Jimdomar” Rosales shocked the Australian boxing scene last Sunday by knocking out homeboy Ibrahim Balla to wrest the World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania featherweight title in Altona North, Australia.

Rosales is best remembered as the Filipino boxer who accepted a daunting challenge against WBC world featherweight king Jhonny Gonzales in Mexico last July but was knocked out in the second round for his only defeat.

He bounced back in a big way to improve his record to 22 wins (10 knockouts), one loss, and one draw.

The 26-year-old from Danao City, Cebu knocked out Balla in the second round after connecting on an uppercut, leaving the Grand Star Receptions, the official venue of the fight, in silence.

The referee did not even bother to count as Balla as he laid unconscious on the canvas.

The 27-year old Balla, an Olympian who competed in the 2012 London Olympics, suffered his second defeat against 13 victories (seven knockouts).
