Suspects in shooting of minors caught

Mandaue City police arrested the suspects in the shooting of two minors at an abandoned house in Consolacion town Monday evening.

Senior Supt. Roberto Alanas, Mandaue City police chief, identified the suspects as Reynaldo Cabatingan, a 23-year-old resident of Barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City, who served as a lookout, Benedicto Dayoha of Barangay Paknaan and James Manto, also of Barangay Maguikay.

Taken from their possession was one loaded revolver. Alanas said the suspects will undergo drug and paraffin tests.

The 12-year-old shooting victim identified as Toni Recania of Barangay Looc, Mandaue City died of a gunshot wound on her head while she drank with friends.

One of her friends named Edwin Pepito sustained a gunshot wound on his right leg. The victims and the suspects were members of rival fraternities.
