Pastor, Manaytay to don Green Archers jersey

TWO former standouts of the Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles have flown the coop and have landed in the lair of the De La Salle University Green Archers.

The two are versatile forward Eroll Pastor and athletic big man Christian Manaytay.

The news was confirmed by Pastor himself, after a picture of him along with Manaytay, La Salle head coach Louie Gonzales and chief benefactor, Danding Cojuanco, surfaced on Sunday.

Pastor, who is from Roxas in Capiz, admitted that making the choice to transfer to the green and white after playing for Ateneo for so long was not an easy one to make.

“I chose La Salle because we feel that I will be comfortable there. It helped also that some of my teammates and batchmates from Sacred Heart will be studying there,” said the mild-mannered Pastor, who has been part of the Mythical Five of the NBTC Nationals for three straight years.

“I think I will not have any problem fitting into the team of La Salle. Right now, I’m enjoying and learning the program and my teammates also,” he added.

Aside from La Salle, the other schools that were recruiting Pastor were Far Eastern University and National University.

Manaytay, on the other hand, finally settled on La Salle after briefly considering Adamson.

Meanwhile, former University of Cebu standout Virlou Orquez, a member of last season’s juniors Mythical Five, has joined the Adamson University Falcons.

The news was confirmed by Adamson’s local liaison, Michael Cenabre.

Orquez is joining a Cebuano-laden Falcons squad that also has former two-time Cesafi juniors MVP Jed Colonia, former Cesafi seniors Mythical Five forward Conrad Catapusan, Mike Macion and Koko Pingoy.
