THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) logged its second straight win in the Women’s Division of the Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Open Volleyball Tournament 2018 on Wednesday at the University of San Carlos (USC) gym in Sanciangko Street, Cebu City.

The Lady Jaguars of head coach Norvie Labuga defeated the visiting team Makati Gospel Church- New Life Christian Academy (MGC-NLCA), 25-16, 25-14, 25-11, to improve their record to 2-1 (win-loss).

The team has now won two straight after losing to USC on Sunday. USJ-R bounced back from the loss when it defeated the University of Cebu (UC), 25-10, 25-14, 25-12, last Tuesday.

Labuga is hoping his team can continue to move forward in this competition as USJ-R next faces Mandaue City, which sported a 1-0 card prior to its game last night which was still ongoing at press time.

“We will strive hard and look forward to defeating Mandaue City,” Labuga said. “Once we can fulfill that goal, then we will part of the top two in our group.”

Only the top two in each group will make the next round.

In the Men’s Division, USJ-R also won against Cebu-Russia (Cebrus), 25-27, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22, 15-11.
