Thirteen vans operating as colorum vehicles at the Mactan Newtown area in Lapu-Lapu City were impounded by Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) personnel on Friday.

LTO-7 Director Victor Caindec said that the owners and drivers of these vans were caught with no permits to operate as tourist vans.

The impounded vehicles included five Toyota Coasters and eight other vans.

Caindec said that the owners of these impounded vehicles would have to pay P200,000 fine aside from having their vehicles impounded at the LTO-7 impounding area for three months.

The owners, however, were given a chance to submit the needed documents to prove that they are not colorum vehicles.

“Most of them (owners) went to the office to have their paperwork validated. Most likely, on Tuesday pa ma-adjudicate,” Caindec said in a text message.
