James Reid and Nadine Lustre
MULTIMEDIA Prince James Reid dominated the MYX Music Awards 2018 held at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City last Tuesday, May 15.
The 25-year old Kapamilya actor was named Artist of the Year beating fellow Kapamilya stars Darren Espanto, Iñigo Pascual, KZ Tandingan and Sarah Geronimo.
Reid was also Male Artist of the Year, while his 2017 song “Cool Down” was Song of the Year.
Another 2017 song by Reid, titled “The Life,” was chosen as Music Video of the Year.
The music video was directed by his Kapamilya actress girlfriend Nadine Lustre, along with Peterson Vargas.
Lustre also received the Music Video Guest Appearance of the Year for the song “The Life.”
The Kapamilya actress on her Instagram story apologized that they were not able to attend the award’s night.
“So sad me and @james couldn’t attend the #myxmusicawards this year. Seeing all the photos right now and it looks like a lot of fun,” she said.
Lustre also thanked MYX Philippines for organizing the event and bringing together local artists in one gathering.
Reid’s “Miss Granny” co-star and Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo was named Female Artist of the Year beating Tandingan, Morissette Amon, Glaiza De Castro and Jona.
The Popstar Royalty also received the Collaboration of the Year award with Yeng Constantino for the song “Kaibigan Mo.”
Meanwhile, Cebuana artist Karen Ann Cabrera or popularly known as Karencitta failed to take home awards for the Music Video of the Year for her song “Cebuana” and New Artist of the Year.
MYX Music Awards is an annual event by MYX Philippines that honors hitmakers in the country.
The event was also attended by former MYX VJs including Heart Evangelista, Iya Villania, Luis Manzano and Nikki Gil.
