MANDAUE City improved its chances of making the quarterfinal round following a 70-56 rout of erstwhile unbeaten Danao City in the North Division Bracket 1 of the Cebu Governor’s Cup 2018 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Compostela Sports Gym on Sunday evening.

Compostela, meanwhile, defeated the visiting Cordova squad, 74-61, in the main game.

The loss was huge for Danao as it is now in a must-win situation in its last game against Consolacion, which has a 4-0 (win-loss) record.

Danao and Mandaue are tied with identical 3-1 (win-loss) records to share second place.

Only the top two teams after the classification round advances to the quarterfinal round.

Jared Michael Espina and Hansel James Camacho scored 12 points each to lead Mandaue.

Argie Capul was the lone player from Danao City to break into the double-digit scoring with 10 points.
