THE much-awaited game between Minglanilla and Naga City in the Cebu Governor’s Cup 2018 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament will be played at 6 p.m. today at the Cebu Coliseum.

This is a replay of their April 23 game, which Naga won, 93-91, via a clutch three-point shot with 0.7 seconds by Justin Atilano.

The game was put under protest by Minglanilla after finding out that there were six players on the court in that final play.

After investigation, the match was ruled a “no contest” by the Governor’s Cup commissioners and the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission, which led to this replay.

Meanwhile, North Division defending champions Consolacion Sarok Weavers weathered the storm to beat San Francisco, 94-92, in overtime in a Cluster A quarterfinal game last Tuesday night at the Consolacion municipal gymnasium.

While San Francisco’s defense limited the production of Sarok Weavers star cager Emmanuel Villamor, his teammate Patrick Montaño stepped up to deliver the needed points to lift his team to victory.

Montaño, a member of the Southwestern University-Phinma (SWU-Phinma) Baby Cobras, exploded for 31 points while Leobert Andrew Casinillo chipped in 21 to give Consolacion its first win in the quarterfinals.

Villamor was limited to 15 points.

The score after regulation was 82 all.

Host team Balamban also kept its heads afloat, winning against Bantayan Island, 72-66, in a Cluster B match at the Balamban town municipal gymnasium.

Down South, Alegria and Ginatilan scored a separate win in the Cluster D games held at the Samboan Municipal Gym.

Alegria defeated Barili, 109-69, while Ginatilan dumped Dumanjug, 88-75.
