MCBA captured the championship in the Competitive Class of the 8th season of the Indie Basketball Cebu after they put down San Remegio Properties, 96-86, in the finals last Sunday at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Brgy. San Nicolas.

Forward Alain Tarona, who was named as the MVP, carried the fight for MCBA as he filled the stat sheet with 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Barok Ceniza also helped MCBA out by firing in 16 markers.

San Remegio got plenty of production from their main guys with Alwyn Aguirre scoring 22, Floyd Taboada adding 18 and Janjan Auditor firing in 16. However, it was all for naught as MCBA’s depth and cohesion proved too much for San Remegio to overcome.

In the Developmental Class, James Gomez put on an MVP performance as he had 28 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and a whopping six blocked shots to give the Bulldogs the title with an 88-77 win over the Na Patikan.
