Managuil, Martinez win in Spartan Race Cebu

VETERAN triathlete Mohammad Sherwin Managuil of Zamboanga topped the men’s sprint open category of the first Spartan Race at the Foressa Trails in Barangay Cansomoroy in Balamban town, west Cebu last Saturday.

Managuil clocked one hour, two minutes and nine seconds to win the title.

Philippine National Games (PNG) decathlon gold medalist Ernesto Ybañez Jr. finished second place with a time of 1:15.18 while Ric Anoos rounded off the top three finishers by finishing in 1:25.17.

Around 2,000 participants joined the obstacle course race that featured a five-kilometer course that had around 20 obstacles.

In the female sprint open category, Mayen Martinez emerged on top with a time of 1:51.42 followed by Junela Mahusay (1:52.32), and Grace Pagtakhan (1:57.42).

The sprint elite category was won by Brendan Hunt (50:59) and Natalia Blinova (1:02.49).
