(UPDATED) – Mabolo Barangay Captain Prisca Niña Mabatid is now subject of controversy after a reported physical assault incident involving her male companion at Waterfront Hotel and Casino, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City last June 19.

According to the incident report of Mabolo police precinct, Mabatid’s companion, Ramon Floresta, physically assaulted a hotel staff and a manager.

Floresta was with the newly-elected barangay captain at the time of the incident.

A contributed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which lasted for more than 3 minutes, shows the heated exchange among the involved parties near the elevator area.

Mabatid was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Sought for comment, Mabatid neither admitted nor denied the incident.

The barangay captain told Cebu Daily News that the complaint is meant to destroy her after President Rodrigo Duterte endorsed her as the president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) in Cebu City.

“Always remember that you won’t get mad unless you were treated properly. I was provoked during that time,” Mabatid told Cebu Daily News in a phone interview.

“Just because you are a public official does not mean you’re not capable of getting angry. Anyway, all these will pass,” she added.

Mabatid also said that she will issue a formal statement to address the accusations point by point.

Formal charges were already filed against Floresta.
