Officials from Cebu Provincial Capitol eyes to construct satellite jail facilities in Cebu province as part of their long-term solution to address the congestion in the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC).

CPDRC Warden Reynaldo Valmoria said they are proposing for a plan to construct provincial jails in the northern, southern, and southwestern part of Cebu province.

Valmoria said the construction of the provincial jails will help address congestion problems in CPDRC.

According to Valmoria, CPDRC has almost 4,000 inmates, and could only accommodate 1,500 inmates.

“Nagkadaghan ang tawo unya ang space nato the same,” Provincial Legal Officer Lawyer Orvi Ortega said.

Moreover, Ortega said CPDRC visitors from different provinces will no longer have to travel in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City once the provincial jails will be constructed.
