ORGANIZERS of the University Run of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) said the 13th edition of the annual footrace will be livelier than before.

The race, which kicks off CDU’s Intramurals, is slated August 26 at the CDU campus at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, the chairman of the Run for Sight Foundation, and CDU President Dr. Philip Larrazabal both said this year’s race will have more runners and a merrier atmosphere.

Philip Larrazabal said last year’s participants were limited due to the adjustment to the K-to-12 academic program, which forced some first-year students to skip the run.

With grades 11, 12 and first year students coming to play, he expects the number to rise to around 3,000 this year.

Water stations manned by different universities will also add color to the race.

“There will be more music all throughout the running event from these water stations,” Philip Larrazabal said. “So expect the race to be livelier.”

The running event is a tribute to the late Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal Jr.

The event is not limited to CDU students, alumni and employees. It is open to all interested runners. Distances offered are 3 kilometers, 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers run.
