EACH of the 43 persons charged for the attempted takeover of the Mactan Isla Resort and Casino in Lapu-Lapu City on Friday will have to prepare a bail of P876,000 for the string of cases filed against them.

Supt. Eloveo Marquez, chief of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB), said that the accused lawyer Gerardo Carillo has started processing for the payment of P36,000 bail for their obstruction of justice case.

Processing for the payment of bail for their grave coercion, slight illegal detention and grave threats cases may follow soon, he added.

Carillo said that he is now talking with lawyers of the hotel management for a possible settlement.

If a settlement is reached, Carillo said, his clients will no longer be filing charges against personnel of the Blue Breed Security Agency for firing at guards from the Proceed Security Agency and injuring at least two of them.

Carillo said there is also a possibility that the other camp will have to withdraw charges that were already filed against his clients.

A total of 33 security guards from the Cagayan de Oro City-based Proceed Security Agency, seven Korean nationals, and two translators barged into the hotel in Barangay Agus for a takeover attempt Friday dawn.
