New system slows down NBI clearance issuance

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is appealing for patience as it implements a new system in issuing clearances.

NBI-7 Assistant Director Jose Doloiras said there may be some inconveniences as the agency shifts to a new system, but assured the public that the change is meant to improve the releasing of NBI clearance.

“Before we’re operating through service provider. Recently, we changed the system so the NBI will be the one to handle it,” he said in an interview this morning.

Doloiras said they are still adjusting to the new system.

“Ganyan naman talaga basta may bagong ipatutupad. Pero awala naman gusto na ganito ang mangyari,” he said.

The NBI in Cebu is accommodating 150 clearance applicants everyday. But if you will apply today, you will be entertained by March since there are already prior applicants on the list. Senior citizens, persons with disabilities, pregnant women and those who are due to travel abroad immediately are exempted. Those going abroad can show their travel tickets to avail of the exemption.

“We’re upgrading the system. I think operations will normalize before this month end. But for those who have valid reasons, we will accommodate them,” Doloiras said.
