UV remains unbeaten in 16-U division

THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers kept their record untarnished as they destroyed SCSIT, 59-26, in the 16-under division 1 class of the 2014 Alaska Basketball Cup Cebu (ABCC) in games held last weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue and at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.
The win was UV’s third in as many games, keeping the Baby Lancers ahead of CEC, which also emerged victorious in its assignments over the weekend.
The Dragons crushed the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 63-38, before routing the University of San Carlos (USC) Gold, 82-48. USC Gold bounced back to beat Colegio dela Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)-Mandaue, 47-40.
In the 13-under division, CEC continued to reign supreme over the field as it grabbed its fifth win in a row with a 79-42 win over USJ-R.
USC Green kept in step with the leaders as it nabbed its third win in as many outings by beating UV, 62-56.
The Baby Lancers got back on the winning track with a 49-32 win over USC Gold. Don Bosco also won over USJ_R, 18-15.
The under-10 division saw USC Green continue its winning run with a 47-25 win over USC Gold and a 45-18 beating of SHS-AdC.
St. Benedict had an up and down weekend as it lost to CEC, 24-35, before winning over USJ-R, 31-25.
The ABCC 2014 is a partnership between Alaska Milk and the Cebu Youth Basketball League which is now on its seventh season as a venue for grassroots and developmental basketball for age groups 16 and below. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
