THE Southern Islands championship of this year’s Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) has been moved to Cebu and will be staged at the Cebu Coliseum on Nov. 18 to 20.

This development was announced through the league’s official social network accounts yesterday in light of the devastation that befell the city of Ormoc which was originally tapped to host the tournament at the Ormoc Superdome. But with the latter being ravaged by supertyphoon ‘Yolanda,’ organizers came to a decision to move the competition to Cebu City.

The southern leg kicks off on Monday with the STI College of Cagayan de Oro facing off against Holy Trinity College for the Mindanao title. The second game will pit Cesafi third placers University of San Carlos against another qualifier from the region.

The winners of those games will earn themselves a date with Cesafi powerhouses, defending champions University of the Visayas and the Southwestern University on Tuesday. The winners of those match-ups will then advance to the Southern Islands championship game on Wednesday with the victor gaining a berth in the national semifinals.

Already waiting there are the UAAP champions La Salle Green Archers while the two other slots will be given to the NCAA champion and the Luzon-Metro Manila winner.
