SEVERAL plastic packs suspected to contain shabu worth P19,000 were seized from a 19-year-old man whom police described as a neophyte in the illegal drug trade in barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

Kelly Gerebese was arrested by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) in a buy-bust operation around 4 a.m. yesterday.

Gerebese admitted that the packs of suspected drugs were seized from his possession but denied owning them. He said he was just given a commission for every pack he sold.

Supt. Romeo Santander, CIB chief, said they are probing several persons who could be the man’s supplier of shabu.

Santander said police are intensifying their anti-illegal drug campaign since the demand for shabu could increase with the upcoming school opening. Santander said at least 50 persons suspected to be involved in selling drugs are being monitored.
