A Mitsubishi hatchback was washed out by flood water after the water at the creek in barangay Poblacion, Daanbantayan town in northern Cebu overflowed because of continuous rains since last night. Flood water with strong current reached at knee level.

The driver, identified as Junior Moralde, around 60 years old, was dragged away 40 meters from the creek. Rescuers led by Daanbantayan police chief Randy Novel threw a rope at Moralde who was clinging to mangroves branches.

A rescuer with rope tied around his body also jumped into the water to rescue Moralde. Moralde was brought to the Daanbantayan District Hospital where he was declared out of danger. His car remains missing.
