INTEGRATION plus innovation equals opportunity is the main focus of activities lined up by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) for Mandaue Business Month (MBM) this August.

The month-long event was launched last Friday at the Laguna Garden, Ayala Center Cebu.
MCCI president Jeruel Roa said the event aims to position Mandaue City as an investment destination.

Roa said the activities are geared towards promoting sustainable and socially responsible entrepreneurship in partnership with Cebu provincial government, Cebu city government and Mandaue city government.

One of the highlights is Trees Brew Life, a tree planting activity on Aug. 2. Another is the Bridging Dreams and Teams, a fund-raising campaign that will be held on Aug. 5 for the improvement of the Mandaue Bridge Park.

The main highlight of the celebration is the hosting of 23rd Visayas Area Business Conference (VABC) on Aug. 21 and 22 at the Oakridge Pavillion.

“The conference will be a learning event where renowned and competent personalities share their knowledge and expertise on different subjects relating to the MBM’s theme,” said Stanley Go, VABC director.

Speakers for the event include Dr. Vicky Belo of Belo Medical Clinic; Pinky Yee, marketing director of Goldilocks Bakeshop; and Ricky Mercado, former director of the Family Business Development Center of John Gokongwei School of Management of Ateneo de Manila University.

Included in the 23rd VABC are the chamber management seminar, Mandaue industrial tour, welcome dinner for delegates on Aug. 21 and a fellowship night on Aug. 22 , where the new board of trustess of MCCI will also be inducted.

Another MBM activity will be the holding of the fourth season of Women In Need Now Entrepreneurs and Rolemodels (WINNERs), which is a search for outstanding women from the city’s barangays. The event will be held on August 27.

“In the event, we will be choosing outstanding women whose life stories of struggle and success will inspire women and men alike,” said Carmel de Pio Salvador, chairperson of WINNERs Season 4.

There will also be seminars which include Franchising Negosyo, Para Sayo, a seminar about franchising (Aug. 28); and Go Negosyo Creativity and Innovation Summit, a seminar about entrepreneurship (Aug. 29).

An MBM 2014 selfie online contest (Aug. 29) and an MCCI fun run (Aug. 30) will also be part of the month-long MBM activities.
