Pagcor share can’t fund city projects

The Cebu City Council temporarily deferred a resolution to charge some projects to the city’s share of the revenue generated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) from its casino operations in the city.

The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) submitted to the City Council a report on Cebu City’s share of Pagcor funds.

The treasurer’s office said the city’s share shrank to P8.4 million while requests for project funding reached P12.3 million.

In its session yesterday, the city council referred the report to the committee on budget and finance for review. “What’s the point of charging it to Pagcor when there are no funds?

We just have to wait until there are available funds,” said Councilor Margot Osmeña.
