Two robbers on a motorbike once again struck an outlet of courier service provider LBC in Mandaue City late yesterday morning and took P15,000.

Police said this was the second time the Subangdaku branch was robbed and the sixth time for the courier company to get victimized in Cebu this year.

The latest incident was on Aug. 14 when two men robbed the LBC branch in Escario St., Cebu City.
The Subangdaku branch has no security guard or surveillance camera despite getting robbed n the past, said P01 Randy Lozada of the Mandaue City Police.

Employee Queenie Pie Diaz, who was alone in the shop, said she was attending to business when two men entered around 11:30 a.m. One holduper sat beside a customer who was busy fiddling with his phone. Another in a striped sweatshirt and orange short pants approached the counter.

One holduper pretended to ask about LBC’s claiming procedure then declared a holdup.

“Tulis ni! Asa man gibutang ang kwarta? (This is a robbery. Where’s the money?),” Diaz, quoting the suspect, narrated.

The robber went past the counter and opened the drawer where the day’s earnings are kept and took P15,000 cash.

He then dragged Diaz to the toilet. Before fleeing, the suspect dipped his hands in a bag owned by another LBC employee, Sheila Mae Uy, and fished out P300 before taking an LG cellphone that was being charged in an outlet.

Uy had stepped out of the shop to buy food leaving Diaz behind.

The two suspects then fled on board a Honda XRM motorcycle that was waiting for them outside the shop.

Rolf Go, the customer who was also inside the shop, said he had no idea that the establishment was being robbed.

Break in

Meanwhile, the municipality of Compostela lost about P75,000 after its Treasurer’s Office was burgled during the long National Heroes Day weekend.

Police said at least P56,000 casn was taken from the vault while P19,000 that were placed in envelopes and kept in wooden drawers were lost in the burglary which was discovered when employee, Arlene Tanjay, reported for work at 8:05 a.m. yesterday.

PO2 Emil Ruvilla, the town crime investigator, said there were no signs of forcible entry. The burglars, he said, passed through the roof near the water tank.

Police questioned Arlene Rosal, a revenue collector who was in charge of the vault, who said she probably forgot to lock the vault when she left the office.

Police said the municipal building’s security guard is only on duty until midnight.

Mayor Joel Quino said they’re not ruling out the possibility of an inside job as the perpetrators were familiar with the building.

He said they will review the town hall’s security measures to prevent a repeat of the incident.

“If it’s cash they are after then we’ll find another vault that’s hard to crack,” he said.
