For the country’s population of 100 million, we need at least 100,000 hospital beds.

Dr. Rustico Jimenez, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, told this to delegates of the Hospital Management Asia conference held at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

He said the country only has 77,000 hospital beds in 1,800 hospitals. Dr. Jimenez said Filipinos need at least 100 new hospitals to reach the 100,000 beds ratio to service the country’s 100 million population.

About 811 delegates from 25 countries are attending the Hospital Management Asia 2014 conference which opened today and ends on Saturday this week.
