The Lapu-Lapu City Government have extended P4 million in financial assistance to the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter during the agreement signing for the celebration of the “World First Aid Day”.

Mayor Paz Radaza signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Dr. Gwendolyn Pang, secretary general of the Philippine Red Cross, and Teodulo Ybañez, chairman of the board of directors of Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter at the Gaisano Mactan Island Mall in barangay Pajo with over a hundred Red Cross youth volunteers attending.

Radaza, who is also the honorary chairman of PRC, said she is willing to partner with the Philippine Red Cross for its vision to promote the welfare of humanity.

“Today, I am surrounded by people whose hearts are made of this belief; people who have the hearts to be selfless, giving value to others more than their own; people who risk their lives saving someone else,” Radaza said.

Their dedication to their vocation comes with courage, she added, because they are doing this without thinking of monetary gains.

“I must say you have the heart and the passion to save humanity while others are busy thinking of themselves. Your readiness and willingness to respond to those in need is inspiring and noble. We are witnesses to the many times when you gave your lives so that others may live,” Radaza said.

With the partnership, residents will be assured of a helping hand, she added.
