Mandaue City Hall upgrades phone system

The Mandaue City government switched from analog to digital to improve its communication systems for public service.

Krister Cosedo, head of the Mandaue City Hall’s Management Information System Office (MISO) said under the new system all City Hall offices are interconnected 24/7, including remote offices and barangay halls.

From a Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) Co. analog system, Mandaue City Hall contracted Globe’s digital communications system in order to save on bills, Cosedo said.

Cosedo said the city government spends P230,000 monthly for PLDT’s analog system but with the present Globe set-up they only pay P39,000 a month for maintenance.

When the government offices closes at 5 p.m., the command center automatically takes over the trunk lines, he said.

The new trunk lines of the Mandaue City government can be seen in the Facebook account of Mandaue City Hall’s Public Information Office (PIO).
