Heavy rain until late evening; classes suspended, passengers stranded

The Mactan station of the state weather bureau Pagasa said Metro Cebu will experience heavy rains until late evening or early tomorrow morning.

The announcement came as classes in public elementary and high schools in Cebu province and Cebu City were suspended early today due to heavy rains while hundreds of work-bound passengers were stranded along the highway.

The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) recorded five vehicular accidents.

Pagasa Visayas Director Oscar Tabada said they recorded a low pressure area near the southern part of Leyte.

“Dili kaayo kusog ang hangin so dili kaayo dagko ang bawod (The winds aren’t strong so the waves are not large). The LPA only brings rain clouds,” Tabada said in a radio interview.

Al Quiblat of Pagasa Mactan said they have recorded 13.4 mm of rainfall since 3 a.m.
