Lexmark, Accenture rule in football festival

Lexmark Football Club and Accenture FC emerged champions in yesterday’s Goal For Jacob football festival at the Cebu International School (CIS) field.

Lexmark FC led by team captain African Arsense Lisson Ngang Som routed host team, Leylam FC B, 3-1, to win the men’s inter-company crown in the event which aims to raise funds for 10-month old Baby Jacob who is suffering from a birth defect called club foot.

Ngang Som took the Golden Ball award.

Meanwhile, San Miguel FC Team A crushed Leylam FC Team A, 3-1 to finish third.

John Paul Casipong, Som’s teammate received the Golden Gloves award while the Best Defender title went to JM Pelanio of San Miguel-A. The Golden Boot award went to Lexmark’s Bonn Clark Rivera while Makoto Football Club received the Fair Play award.

In the women’s division, Accenture nipped Eperformax, 1-0, to win the title while Lexmark FC finished third after beating Mitsumi FC, 1-0.

The women’s Golden Ball award went to Accenture’s Sheila Ortiz while the Golden Gloves award went to Pat Muertigui of Eperformax. Apple Bariñan of Accenture won the Golden Boot title while

Vanessa Mondero of Eperformax was named Best Defender.

Host club Leylam FC has pledged to donate P100 for every goal scored in the meet. The one-day football festival recorded 116 goals  equivalent to P11,600 which was donated to Baby Jacob along with the registration fee from the 22 competing teams.

Baby Jacob’s surgery is slated at the end of the month.
