THE Honda City and the Honda CR-V won two titles each in the recent Asean-NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2014 held in Kuching, Malaysia.

The City subcompact sedan was named  the overall winner in the best adult occupant protection (AOP) and at the same time was the best in AOP in the small family category.

The CR-V compact SUV, on the other hand, won the best AOP in the SUV category and was also the best in child occupant protection (COP) in the SUV class.

Aside from both vehicles, the Civic compact sedan also was named the best in COP in the medium family category.

All in all, Honda won five titles in the Asean-NCAP, which is the new car assessment program for Southeast Asian countries.

Asean-NCAP organized the Grand Prix Awards last August to recognize achievers in their crash test and to commemorate automobile safety supporters. The event also marked group’s 1,000th day of establishment.

Meanwhile, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) launched early this month in Manila two new variants of the City.

The two new Honda City E Navi+ variants are equipped with the audio-visual Navigation (AVN) system by Garmin International. These two new variants, which will add to existing four Honda City variants, are expected to further boost sales of this model by about 100 units to more than 800 units in a month.

Honda City, the only model manufactured the HCPI plant in Laguna, is seen to account for a little over 50 percent of the company’s total target sales of 15,000 units for fiscal year March 2014 to April 2015.
