Cebuano dancers once again stamped their class in hostile territory as they collected 14 golds, 11 silvers and 5 bronze medals en route to topping the recent 18th DSCPI National Championship 2014 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The event was adjudicated by seven World DanceSport Federation-licensed adjudicators.
Leading the DTCC winners are Jimmy Noel and Eleanor Hayco, who won two gold medals in the Senior C and A (Latin) events.
Hayco also won another gold when she and partner Wilbert Aunzo ruled the Special Event 2A (Latin).
The other pairs that won dual golds for DTCC were Andrew Ysla-Noelyn Pedrano in the Junior A Latin and Modern Standard and Kevin Deluvio-Jam Flores who topped the Special Event 1C and Grade C (Latin).
DTCC’s other gold medals came from:
Hezekiah Sobrevega and Rowella Rydel Pat in Juvenile A (Standard), Zjiane Troy Villarta and Zjiana Tracy Villarta in the Youth A (Standard), Ronald Ruiz and Jecelyn Versteeg in Senior C (Standard), Bjorn Torreon and Jam Flores in Special Event 1C (standard), Ronnie Vergara and Charlea Lagaras–Vergara in Professional A (Latin), Ronnie Vergara and Verena Lopez in Pro–Am C (Latin) and Jeffrey Ruben Benarao and Mary May Canillo in Grade B (Latin).
According to DSCPI President Becky Garcia, some 330 dancesport athletes from all over the Philippines competed in the event which was supported by Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Flawless, Vitug Beach Resort, Retro DCG-FM 105.9, Philippine Orthopedic Institute,Studio 116, Studio AK, Caruso Ristorante Italiano and The Greenery Bulacan.
The adjudicators were Gianita Bigazzi from Italy, Mok Chi Keung from Hong Kong, Fujii Masaaki from Japan, Boon Lan “Ivy” Por from Malaysia, Algernon Tan from Singapore, Gloria Alcala from the Philippines and Lubos Novotny from Czech Republic, who acted as the Chairman.
The Cebuano contingent’s 11 silver medallists were Adrian Veraces-Carrie Samson, Jake Emmanuel Corro-Anndreah Kiem Capangpangan, John Paul Mocorro-Therese Andre’ Quilaton, Jaydel Fresh-Ouie Selene Rendon, Romeo Cialbo-Mary Desiree Seraga, Bernie Tumarong-Mae Paracuelles, Jeffrey Ruben Benarao-Mary Mae Canillo, Jesel Yap-Diane James and Charlie Camacho-Marisse Reyes.
