NBI may probe Gov. Tallado’s sex video

Tallado camp claims politics behind scandal

If asked to do so, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) would initiate an investigation into the source of photographs and video posted on the Internet showing Camarines Norte Gov. Edgardo Tallado with his alleged mistress, graphic images at the center of a quarrel between him and his wife, Josefina.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday said she would refer to the NBI’s Cybercrime Division Tallado’s request for investigation as soon as the governor formalizes the plan he first broached to the media.

“I have yet to receive a request about that. What exactly does he want? To determine (the source of the video)? Then that would be (for the) Cybercrime Division,” De Lima said.

“If she makes a formal request, all that I’m going to do is to refer it to the NBI. The NBI has a cybercrime unit. So if what he wants is to trace who uploaded that, then the NBI Cybercrime Division could do that,” De Lima told reporters.

Tallado’s camp said the governor was seeking the Department of Justice’s help to identify the source of the video, saying a political opponent may have had a hand in making the images public.

Earlier reported “missing,” Tallado’s wife surfaced last week and said she had fled from home as the governor had threatened her life, suspecting that she was behind the leak. She is currently under barangay protection and is expected to file charges against her husband.

On Monday, Tallado apologized to his wife and family, his constituents and his alleged mistress — the woman in the video and photos. His camp also clarified yesterday that his apology was not an admission of the authenticity of the images.
