A fire razed a furniture shop in barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla town at 2:35 a.m., Wednesday.

The fire damaged part of the Bon Ace Fashion Tools’ production area and portions of their three-storey building. No one was hurt during the incident.  The fire department pegged the damage at P1 million.

FO1 Fulbert Navarro of the Minglanilla Fire Station said it took them awhile to control the fire due to the presence of flammable chemicals like paints, acytelene, LPG  and an oxygen tank located at the back of the establishment.

Despite the help of neighboring fire stations of the cities of Talisay, Cebu, Naga and San Fernando town, it took them 40 minutes to control the fire and the blaze was put out at 5 a.m.

Navarro said they are still investigating the cause of the fire, though he speculated that it may have been due to chemicals overheated by exposure to sunlight.
