Fuelled by a fast growing retail market in the northern part of Cebu, Rustan’s Supercenters, Inc. (RSI) opened their third Rustan’s Supermarket in Cebu at the Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City last Saturday.

In his opening speech RSI president Donnie Tantoco expressed their group’s confidence and commitment to the fast growing Cebuano market.

The Rustan’s Supermarket in Oakridge Business Park is the 21st Rustan’s Supermarket in the country and the third shop to carry the new design of Rustan’s Supermarkets.

“This is the third in the country and the second in Cebu after our Ayala Center Cebu supermarket. The other one is our flagship store in Makati,” said Manuel C. Alberto, vice president for Rustan’s Supermarket.

The store has approximately 1,481 square meters of gross space and 1,040 square meters of total selling floor area.

Alberto said there will be 22,000 different items on display at the store which is targeted to cater to the also huge market in Mandaue City and the rest of the northern part of Cebu.

“From the feedbacks we got from our customers, a lot of them also live near this area and we’re really pleased of the new store opening here. As much as possible we want to bring our products and services closer to our customers,” he said.

Alberto said that they have been adding more stores this year with the Oakridge shop being the fourth that they opened this year.

“By December, we might open another one in Antipolo. We usually average two to four openings every year. This year, however, we are more bullish with expansions,” said Alberto.

Aside from expansions, the group is also investing heavily on renovating and updating their existing stores to be more accomodating of the new trends in convenient shopping.

This year, they rennovated three stores including their Ayala Center Cebu store which also recently reopened.
